Forgive the newbie question. I've only today built my first COM ship. Do you mean that there were completed combat missions left unattended/uncollected in the same orbit as your COM, or that they were pending in that orbit?
Maybe it's because I'm so new, or maybe I'm just anal that way, but I would be very anxious about every COM mission that I had underway.

they were started and then  abandoned before resolution, forcing the next person to fight it. they then can come back and reap the reward for someone else doing their work. it really screws with the timers...

It sounds unethical, at the least, to me. Is it possible that it could be accidental? I've been told that I should always check the orbit before starting a COM, so as not to screw with another players COM.

it was 4 separate abandoned missions plus mine. seems unlikely to be 4 accidents...

One thing to avoid this is...... DON'T START COM MISSIONS IN SOL OR 1ST RING QUADRANTS

the best way is to pay attention when you start the mission.

ALWAYS look before you leap...

Yep ... First thing I was told before starting COM missions. It shouldn't matter which ring you're in. You can get stacked up anywhere.

Newbies (or not-so-strong oldies) are welcome to drop their COMs on mine if the pirate power is below 10 million. Just come back after a month. :)
