Title: Cannot set a long range course
Post by: Tarkurious on September 11, 2014, 12:54:08 PM
Used to work, now it doesn't.
Cannot select anything on the star maps.
Cannot set a long range course.
Tried everything I can think of but none of my ships can select an object or set a long range course.
I can do a simple course/jump out to almost 16ly but that is it.

I just set 7 different ones. I don't have a problem.
The only one I did have was the fact that my LR jumps were being set to 'sector 0,0' and had to be reset. Is that your problem?

Tarkurious: I had the same problem with internet explorer, it did work in the past and at one point stopped working. SirEmi asked me to try a different browser, I did try Chrome and it solved the problem.

I will try a different browser, see if that works.
I can't set or select anything on the star maps, so I have not had an issue with them resetting back to 0,0.
This used to work fine for me and is a great tool !!!!

Well, I can confirm IE 10 doesn't work for me. Went to IE 8 and everything is fine now.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, much appreciated.
Now I can go back to hiding in the voids  :)

IE is horrible for eveything lol- I personally always use Firefox with Adblock, DNT, and Disconnect add-ons to cut ads/trackers and speed up page loading.

Why oh why do people insist on using Internet Explorer.  It is a horrible web browser filled with security holes. Your much better off with another browser. I prefer firefox.

IE10 is the worst of a poor series.

Chrome for me, Google already knows everything about me anyway ;)

Chrome is just so much cleaner than the others... I think Firefox is ugly and I haven't had as good of an experience with it as with Chrome

Here is why I hate chrome.  It is because for each Tab open it opens a separate process.  I tend to use a lot of tabs when I am online. So this eats up far more cpu on my computer then firefox does with a lot of tabs. Even with just a couple firefox usually uses less.  Also Chrome tend to use up more memory as well when it is running because of the combined processes.  For many newer machines this may not be a big issue.  But for my computer it is.  My primary browser is firefox. My backup browser is Opera. There are a few others I occasionally will use. Especially on my laptop which is even older.

Yes newer pcs tend to run fine. Mine is much older.  When my mom originally got this PC, it had vista on it.  When she decided to get a new one and give this one to me, I removed Vista because of how much it slowed it down and put XP on it.  I can't put 7 on it because it only has a 32 bit processor. It isn't even duel core. One thing many developers don't do when they make stuff is consider how it might effect older systems. Google is one of those that is good at thinking with that mindset. They see the current and future but forget all about those with older systems.

My PC is also a bit old now. About 5 years, longer than I ever kept one.

Must upgrade to PC Mk. MMXIV
