Title: Exploring a system
Post by: BB Goode on August 31, 2013, 01:22:39 AM
What does it take to have "explored" a system so that it is charted on my Star Map? Do I have to go to every star system in it personally?  :2:

currently there are no in-game map updates outside known quadrants. We at IMG have built our own star charts and orbital databases based on our discoveries. I recommend a JPG capture and build your fleet charts from your explorations in deep space. Refer back to it often. Its a handy referral tool so you dont get too "Lost in Space"

Hope this helps,

Best wishes

Only in that you have confirmed yet another tear in the fabric of the game platform. Having no way to capture the information through the game itself is a pretty big flaw, imho. I really don't want(and shouldn't have to) jump through those external hoops to make up for a lack of game functionality.

I have talked to SirEmi about this issue.  One of his plans is actually to eventually have the uncharted areas become charted as we explore them. Though knowing him it is hard telling when that update will ever come.

It would appear he was listening, as I have mappage. (No, don't look up mapppage in a dictionary.)

I just checked mine and I don't. You must have wondered into one of the known territories. lol

if it does come to pass that the unmapped systems become mapped, i would hope those maps are available only to the explorer, unless he/she wishes to share with other explorers. Hate to see all that hard work exploring for someone else to benefit from for doing nothing but sitting in a cockpit running simulations. It would be nice to have my own personal map of the universe that no one else is privy to

I think that is how it will be.  Though at some point Corps are supposed to eventually be able to see where their own members are located. Though it takes assigning that power to a rank to see it.  I really hope that one come soon . It would be really handy.

yes indeed. i am getting tired (as my members probably are of me) constantly asking of their whereabouts for logistics. It would be nice to be able to see my own holdings in system when i jump into a system in particular, but also that of my crew members so i can provide quicker more efficient support

That is why I haven't bothered to ask where everyone is. I do keep an eye on the corp ships they are using though and where they are taking them. lol

I also hope that maps are available only to those that explore the territory in question.

I am sure that will be the case.
