Can uncivilized creatures build modules more technologically advanced than Earth's? Well to be technical it says it's a hive (and a level 5 structure- could refer to size) but that doesn't necessarily mean advanced... I mean not far where I am, there was this:: http://www.texasento.net/Social_Spider.htmThis was a 200-yard spider-web. Now I don't know if that qualifies as level 5, but if so, I think it still doesn't qualify as a civilization

Can uncivilized creatures build modules more technologically advanced than Earth's? Considering we can't even be sure of how strong they are at the moment it is hard to say there are more advanced. I wouldn't be surprised if many of our own tech we have in the game is more powerful then this stuff we are finding.

no, but insects and other vermin can take over empty buildings.
You will have to show proof that these 'spiders' are capable of that sort of engineering.
You did attack, didn't you?
You did discover this first, all I am saying is if others also find 'arachnid nests' it will go a long way to proving it as a civilization.
It's either a 'civilization' or a 'space monster'. Either way you are first.

To us ants are just ants. To ants they are a civilization of a sort. Though I wonder what they think of us. lol.

We don't crash land, so something we have is superior to them (maybe their ship don't have the same 'jump-out-of-here-to-the-safe-spot' safety feature as we do).

All three of you are clueless of these alien structures and what these structures do. These aren't just some useless webs. LOL You will find out soon enough if you ever get to do and finish one of these investigations. I will let you guys find out for yourself.

I don't see a level V hive, just a hive in a level V structure.

For me a civilization is a group of planet with alien structures that are occupied by an alien race an that defend its territory.

Rafe was the first to discover something!
#2 'Space Monster' or #3 'Alien Civilization'.
We need to determine which is correct before we can award the title. I read 'monster' and 'civilization' to be exclusive of each other.
The One Above All was the first to discover one of these. We are deciding which of the two it will be.

Since they are on the planet surface and don't attack our ships, I don't think they are space aliens. They should be in space to be considered as such, IMO.

Sir Emi has stated that space monsters will be incorporated deliberately in a future upgrade. I do not think "Alien Civilizations" will progress more than the simple ruins and structures left behind by a now extinct or long departed species that we have discovered thus far.

SirEmi in other forum threads said that aliens would attack any intruder in their territory. That sound like a civilization for me.

So I've just encountered a large alien structure, something that requires 8 million RPs and 8 days to excavate. As you all know, I'm a wee bit small, and that's a price too steep to pay at the moment. So instead, I thought I would see if anyone else is interested in buying the location of the structure from me. You get quadrant, planet, and of course my promise not to tell anyone else where it is.
