Wondering if there are any active players engaged in pirating these days.. Attached is my latest loot. Not bad for a newbie i guess.

You lost when you attacked my ship.. Here's my latest loot. Still no one convinced to engage in pirating?

Raiding can be quite profitable. Though not near as profitable as SOS and COM Missions. That is why I don't raid as much anymore.

Based on how it went for me, SOS missions aren't nearly as profitable as pirating.
I haven't done any COM missions yet but my 8th ship will be a warship that will triple my current ship power. Hopefully it will be worth it. LOL

You were likely doing the SOS missions around 0,0 of the first ring. The real profit is out on the outer rings. Also known as ring 4. I am easily able to pay for my officers and VIP with the money I make from these. You need a ship with a lot of cargo space to really maximize profits though. 25-30k space should be enough. After selling meds, keep going around the outer ring until you fill up with escape pods. Then head back to Earth. You will need a backup fuel source though. I use diamonds. Diamonds can be hard to afford at first for that. But after a few runs you should be able to afford them. 1000-2000 should be enough.

Yep, first ring. I didn't know that the profits rise to the extent of being able to pay for officers and VIP. My largest cargo ship currently is only 16k though, and I'm still researching for crystalline armor. I'm still at osmium lvl 3, so getting that done, researching better cargo bays and manufacturing them will probably take me 1-2 more weeks. LOL

rafe, armor is good, but needs frequent repair. Crystalline is not only expensive to build but also to repair (and the higher the level, the more the repair costs) I don't use armor any more (only shields) because it was taking up too much valuable cargo space for the rm for repair needs. I found I needed enough RM in cargo to build a level 1 armor, and that would only repair armor after one or maybe two COM missions.
But, if you want armor, go for it. I hope you have better luck with it than did I.
and, I don't see how having VIP or officers can raise the profit as it is based upon your strength and what ring you are in. In the same way, SOS missions are more profitable out here in the hinterlands...

That's nice! Where are your mines at? LOL jk I'll soon be retiring from pirating mines though. It's starting to take too much time and has become boring. Looking forward to break 1 million ship power this week and start raiding/destroying weak player/SOL stations.
