TODAY'S HEADLINES...

Tensions surrounding the self-imposed exile of IMG's second-in-command, Jake, have cooled after days of heated debate and verbal exchanges between corporation leaders.

Consul Rostinius Maximus had a few choice words on the subject:
"I believe that through continued efforts and collaboration between United Corporation members we will be able to resolve this issue in a diplomatic way without unnecessary bloodshed. So far the Caelus Peace Conference has gone very well and there are good signs that we will be able to close this matter all together in the near future."

Tempers rose after Consul Rostinius Maximus accepted the declared "war-criminal" into New Roman ranks prior to awaiting the responses of other corporation leaders.

"New Rome stands united and we are willing to do everything within our power to ensure that peace is preserved throughout the galaxy"
-Consul Rostinius Maximus

It is with great pride that I announce Senatus Populusque Novae Romae has surpassed the Way of Progress in total corp power.

Our activities continue to expand and escalate as we have just finished a 15 million power "Harvester" ship which will provide funding for future corporate projects to resist the need for any taxation.

I think you'll find in reality it takes many less than 25 New Romans to surpass our friend wayup, as many of our members are still relatively new and growing at their own pace :)

Then again Sargas, that one person is Mata and he makes up 82.44% of your entire corps power (as of right now anyway), without him your corp is a bit over half as powerful as wayup. Just saying, the power of the EoS is very concentrated and should anything happen to Mata it would be a deceiving number.

Rostin's corp seems to be somewhat more balanced in that regard, of course adding noobs all the time does concentrate the power quite a bit, as many members as he has I would be curious to know how many of them are over 1 mil power without corp assets.

Anywho congrats to sparhawk and to your recent rank up on the corporate ladder. You seem to be doing quite well for yourselves xD.

Haha thank you :)
You can always do a tag search in the friends list for our members. We have three com ships lent out to our members and they are of varying power but probably 15 are more than 1 million power currently

As for my power, remember that my ships are powered down about 50% to accelerate their missions. Maybe in the future, I will ask my captains to lights up the lights to show their true power.

lol, 38 of my ships are warships with a power between 30 and 35 millions with brand new MK MMM shields just completed. The 2 others are scouts without any power.

As for passing me, I intend to make it harder than it was for Ralph, so Viracocha should expect a fight. And I have no intention of quitting the game so EOS should stay close to the top in the near future lol.

Lol, well you don't know me very well I suppose. I was just saying that there are any number of things that can happen in the game and outside of it that can either make it undesirable for him or any of us to play or just make it very difficult/impossible to play. Life is an unpredictable thing.

@ Rostin, I wasn't expecting you to answer that really lol. I suppose I could have looked them up with your corp tag if I really wanted to know, it was just a thought really more than anything else. I know some people have become powerful relatively quickly by accepting the aid and handouts of others. Personally I pride myself on having grown to where I am now (which taking the corp COM ship I'm using out of the picture is around 3 mil ship power) almost entirely on my own up to this point. I think of all the modules I have only three of them weren't built by me and only one of those is a combat module. Ship's aren't the only corp assets that can help a person grow after all.

You mean like changing auto unload from every 6 hours to whenever the module is full thus making mining a viable source of income? *cough* SirEmi get on that *cough* I mean that should take like... 5 minutes to change.

Personaly I don't care about being number one, all I actually care about is increasing my income and continuing to grow. That and trying to make the game better by giving SirEmi ideas, though it seems like ideas aren't the problem but rather him actually doing something with them is. I assume he is a busy person outside of his games otherwise this game would be much further along in it's development I would think.

In a recent session of the New Roman Senate, SPQNR has adopted a new domestic policy which will create four organized Legions in the local cluster. Each Legion will have duties such as defense of bases, mentoring of new recruits, and the reconnaissance of their region. *Fireworks and joyous anthems can be heard through throughout the SPQNR embassy at Earth*

*An excited Newscaster appears on the displays in ships around Sol*

"This just in... An unidentified star ship has emerged from the Caelus ship docks. It seems the Senate and People of New Rome have just completed a new corporate flag ship to defend its assets in Sol."

*A massive hull appears; concealed by shadows projected from the moons of Uranus*

"This ship is larger than anything we have ever seen before here in SOL space. Whether I should be in awe or terror remains to be seen"

*Sunlight is cast upon the reinforced plating of a gleaming new Titan. 'SPQNR - CAELUS IMPERIUM' is printed in bold on both the port and starboard sides*

*A news bulletin appears in front of the anxious anchor*

"Recent reports from our scanners show this single ship coming in at over 100 million power... Holding over 16.5 million trained soldiers New Roman command has permanently solidified its presence in Sol."

*Stock counters start updating at a rate surprising to the most seasoned brokers*

"SPQNR is now the THIRD strongest corporation in the entire galaxy! Their seat is saved by a new entry into the coveted 'Top - 5' circle; Mythiclord!"

Polling booths across New Rome are 1.5 hours from closing, as the weekend of the Ides of March sees SPQNR elect a new Consul to fill the rather large boots of Virgil. The current Second Consul and Rector of New Rome's Vega Estate is on a mission far beyond the boundaries of the Republic.

There were a few reasons for my stepping down. :)
1.) Raphael is correct, the game has gotten stale for me and I have other things to play
2.) I started my senior year of college and had two weeks of RA training before that. I also got a girlfriend so I lost a LOT of playtime for all my games
3.) Since I wasn't around as often I thought New Rome deserved a more capable leader and someone who I could trust with my prized creation :)
4.) It just seemed to make sense for the spirit of the democratic corporation that I step down at some point

It is with regret about the situation that has arisen, but total faith in my successor and the future, that after a four-week "reign", I pass First Consulship on to Consul Regnad Kcin.

Despite intensive communications between me and emperor sargas of the EOS, I must now concede defeat on the diplomatic front.

Quote
I'm torn between my devotion to our SPQNR constitution and the corp's treaties on one hand, and my loyalty to the members of the first hour that form(ed) the heart and soul of it. As Consul of New Rome, I will not authorise military action against members of an allied corp without the consent of that corp's leader. As a comrade of a New Roman who meant so much to our Republic, and who felt forced to leave us so as not to go against our principles, I feel my place is in the galactic trenches alongside him. Therefore, I will, as stated, give you 48 hours to decide on Emo's future as an EOS member. Not as a threat or anything, the fact is that Emo WILL receive more laser fire after that period, but out of courtesy. If, after that period expires (1730 UTC on Thursday 27 August), Emo is still in EOS, I will resign as Consul of New Rome and join Darrell in his new corp.

... that deadline has passed, and I feel that further talks are a waste of everyone's time. I wish to reiterate I do not hold anything against sargas personally, and that these developments do not change my respect for him and his desire to see hard evidence. I do not, however, see what more we can do to have EOS come to the same conclusion as the New Roman courts have, and will do what I consider right now. As stated, I do not wish this to be held against New Rome, and have therefore left my position as Consul and the corp in general.

That doesn't change the close bond Darrell and I have with New Rome, and a draft treaty has been agreed between the leadership of both corps. This is currently up for a vote in the New Roman Senate. I have no doubt my successor will announce the outcome of that vote to the galaxy in due course.

Former Consul Marcus Cruoningus out...

You may not realise that despite a huge majority of nations in the world today being democracies, corruption is still rife. Whether it's the 2.6 billion ringgit issue in Malaysia, or FIFA and Sepp Blatter, or whatever, there aren't many clean countries today, assuming there is even any.

If you think about it, the olden days were so much less corrupted. Other than a few occurrences where the king was weak and his subjects began to rebel, as long as there was a good leader, the country would prosper. Now, with the involvement of modern-day politics, even those so-called "good" leaders have many dark secrets of their own.  L:)

Spring cleaning, SPQNR style...

The Senate and the People of New Rome,

Considering that:

Upon creation of SPQNR, Rostin created the Rorarii under the "once a New Roman, always a New Roman" principle, which was always meant as a Roll of Honour, instead of an instrument to make SPQNR look like a graveyard;
Literally half of our page 1 ranking is occupied by people offline for over 1700 hours, with some gone for nearly a year or even almost two years. Instead of serving as an inspiration, it has become a source of sadness and frustration instead;
The two people that would be top of everyone's list when naming Rorarii, Rostinius Maximus and Darrell, are not even among their ranks;
An earlier Constitutional amendment already watered down the permanent status of the rank of Rorarius by taking a vote on the existing ones, twice a year;
Half the first page of SPQNR membership has been offline for 1,700 hours or more, which along with the saddening effect of making New Rome look a corp of inactives, also creates an almost physical division between the old core and the newer Senators;

Have unanimously voted to adopt a proposal that:

A Senator is allocated the rank of Rorarius upon 500 hours of inactivity.
Upon 1,000 hours of inactivity, the "mandatory retirement threshold", a Senator is removed from SPQNR by the First Consul.
An extension of an additional 1,000 hours to the above mandatory retirement threshold will be granted once in the event of explicit prior announcement of prolonged absence by the Senator in question.
An extension of an additional 1,000 hours to the above mandatory retirement threshold may be granted once by a majority decision of the two Consuls and the Censor in the event of implicit information regarding the absence of the Senator in question being of extended but temporary nature.
The creation of a full Roll of Honour featuring the names, period of membership, offices held and any noteable achievements/events by each and every Senator.
Honouring New Rome's greatest fallen Sons and Daughters by naming a Corp Ship after them, by a majority vote in the Senate upon a nomination and a seconding by any two Senators.

Consequently, our Dear Leader has issued the following executive order (PS: no courts in SPQNR)

This new Rorarii law was in no small part inspired by the EOS policy on inactives. On a personal note, I believe it would be good if all corps had a similar policy, to get an accurate view on how many captains REALLY are active in this game, and to prevent misunderstandings in First Ring orbits especially.
