Title: Science! Post by: the_king on December 06, 2012, 01:43:00 PM What science trees are you currently working on and what was the first tree you went for i the start of the game
Title: Re: Science! Post by: Tumppi on December 07, 2012, 04:12:49 AM Well i went early on more science and gargo capacity...
Title: Re: Science! Post by: JamJulLison on December 07, 2012, 03:08:41 PM Engines and cargo were my main priorities. Then weapons. Then armor and shields. I have been doing things in a bit of moderation though.
Title: Re: Science! Post by: Heretic on December 07, 2012, 09:34:09 PM I focused on Shielding, Personnel, and Combat Tactics, then moved to Engines and Cargo
Title: Re: Science! Post by: Scion on December 10, 2012, 01:14:09 PM For a pirate a good first point of focus is researching Advanced Cargo Bays. Having somewhere to put all the loot is mighty handy.
It might surprise some people but weapons research is fairly low down on my list, since I get to pick and choose who i engage with. Title: Re: Science! Post by: the_king on December 11, 2012, 09:40:16 PM ya i noticed that cargo bays just are a good time investment.
currently i have tier 4 cargo tier 2 science tier 5 viper squad tier 3 worm hole generator and tier 3 ftl. up grading science bay helps a lot with getting more well every thing. Title: Re: Science! Post by: Scion on December 12, 2012, 07:57:27 AM There is a difference between researching something and actually upgrading a module.
Research Cargo untill you can build AdvCargo Bays. But your better off investing your money in increasing your ship size and using Mark-1 modules to increase cargo capactiy and then build AdvCAB's when youve reserached them than making a CAB-3 or 4. Same goes for SLB's use more SLB's rather than higher level SLB's Title: Re: Science! Post by: sargas on December 12, 2012, 03:55:55 PM and remember, it's cheaper to manufacture a module than it is to buy one from SOL...
Title: Re: Science! Post by: JamJulLison on December 12, 2012, 04:29:52 PM and remember, it's cheaper to manufacture a module than it is to buy one from SOL... Unless of course your buying a pre-made module at Earth. That is actually a little cheaper. Title: Re: Science! Post by: norill on December 12, 2012, 07:48:02 PM when is it cheaper to manufacture something? modules on Earth are cheaper than everything i can manufacture
Title: Re: Science! Post by: JamJulLison on December 12, 2012, 07:55:54 PM It is cheaper when your mining the material yourself and then putting it together lol. Your going to have to make most of your modules anyways.
Title: Re: Science! Post by: norill on December 13, 2012, 05:46:43 AM even then for example manufacturing CAB costs 1050$, 50$ more than buying
Title: Re: Science! Post by: Morgwen Dubhspiriag on January 05, 2013, 08:51:25 AM I used the old saying "In order to make money, you need money" and
invested in Science 1st, followed by Mining and Cargo Bays The Science assisted me in researching the others. Title: Re: Science! Post by: JamJulLison on January 05, 2013, 02:00:02 PM With science in the beginning I have used just MK 1 labs. Hell most of mine are still those. I will be upgrading those soon though. When it comes to areas of focus, i focus on science labs the least. At the moment though I can build MK 20 Labs though.
Title: Re: Science! Post by: Morgwen Dubhspiriag on January 06, 2013, 12:20:46 AM when is it cheaper to manufacture something? modules on Earth are cheaper than everything i can manufacture When you have a decent mining source for the material needed for manufacturing a particular module. Or at least 1 of the resources. Anything that off-sets the cost of buying them all from SOL will make it cheaper. Title: Re: Science! Post by: JamJulLison on January 06, 2013, 12:30:00 AM With all the back and forth from the mines I find it better to just buy my stuff from Earth. I sell the valuable stuff I mine. The rest I just convert to fuel.
Title: Re: Science! Post by: simoncoetzer on February 05, 2013, 06:44:31 AM i did science and cargo..... then engines followed hi
