Title: Server upgrade
Post by: SirEmi on January 15, 2014, 05:15:17 PM
There will be a brief period of downtime today, 10-15 minutes today for a server upgrade.

We're going to upgrade to a two times more powerful server and will get the latest software upgrades.
You will notice increased speed and reliability on the new server and faster loading response time.

What new with the software upgrade to the game or to the server?

Probably just server upgrade this time, not game updates.

I hope game updates will come soon though.  :)

Hi,

your server upgrade is great. It is much faster with manufactiring and SITREP in particular with so many ships and manufacturing bays that I have. I could no do without it now.

Thx

i havent spotted any difference. If anything, starting a combat timer vs com or nest takes even longer lately. Probably because i am so far away from server anyway, it makes very little difference here

Doesn't matter much where you are in the world. LOL Must be your connection.

As for the starting of combat timers, I figured out that they only happen to take long if you are starting a mission that you received some time ago. Missions that you receive and start at the same day (or recently) will load much faster.

Not always true.  Ones I get the same day seem to take longer for me to load now.  The larger the COM the longer it seems to take.

Well, i didn't experience that. It only happens to me (1) if it's an old mission and (2) if I do more than 1 mission at the same place simultaneously.

All the COM missions I have done give a timer that is based on the ennemy + my power. I must say that all my COM are started right away except for nest.

Wow, what a comment hey. BEHOLD EVERYONE we have a Genius on the forums!!!! He has discovered that no matter were we are in the world, he has gotten around the issue of ping rates through a telecommunications backbone!!!. ALL PRAY AND PRAISE THE MIGHTY!!! BOW DOWN IN HIS PRESENCE!!!
(review this reply with the sarcasm and total disregard i gave the quoted. Numbskull!)
<Addendum: What is Raphael's profession?: I know its nothing to do with IT or telecommunications LOL I personally vote for clown; he makes me laugh every time he comments>

Dadds, this type of message from you...

...calm down, dude...

...at your age, you should be more mature than this...

At my age i dont suffer fools easily. And he is easily a fool. Good job Raphael has a defender to back him up. Maybe i am ready for a brain flip and may include you in it, might EoS? You sit on shaky ground constantly defending Raphaels comments. Fair Warning

When I said that it was your connection (or maybe your old pc), I was referring to your statement of not noticing any difference at all since the server upgrade. As far as I know, ALL of us felt the difference EXCEPT you Dadds. Who's the fool now?  :))

You are clearly way out in the lead there Raphael since you dont know what computer I use, nor what profession I do for a real job (you know, one of those things most people have to get up out of bed, attend and actually have to perform well at), and obviously (by your statement) have no clue on how communication backbones work globally. Commenting on something you have no clue about is about as foolish as it gets.
I have been involved in communications since the days of DARPA which you will not have a clue about until you GOOGLE it. Even then likely it wont make much sense to you and likely will dismiss it in your short term memory an instant after you read the highlighted parts.
It's simplicity itself to call someone a fool, a much more complex task demonstrating it, and just makes you look the more foolish

Hold your horses, kid. Let's stick to the topic, shall we? You seem to have the foolish habit of including things that no one really cares about. LOL

No one cares what you do in RL, and even if you invented the internet, that still doesn't change the fact it's only you who didn't feel any difference at all. All of us felt the difference. For some it may be a big difference, for some small--but they felt it nevertheless. And you still blame it's the server and not your connection? For you to not notice any difference, your internet connection and/or computer must be really slow. :))

It appears to be an issue with generating the combat mission pirate ships. It's not the server or connection, just the ships may take longer to jump in sometimes.

I am looking into this now, thank you.

That's exactly what I experienced. I sometimes get a "timeout error" because it takes too long to load. Everything else loads in less than 2 seconds. Overall gameplay though, I felt the difference in load times since the upgrade--unlike someone else who claims to see no improvement at all. LOL

Same as Ralph and Sargas.

2 other area that are slow is "cargo" with a ship that has 100's of modules in it and sometimes "manufacturing"

The slow loading of pirate ships issue is now fixed and it will load almost instantly.

Thank you for all the feedback.

yep all fixed down under Sir Emi. Me and my "slow" fibre optic cable can now keep up with you guys for loading combat graphics.
