Hi my name is Atami
I am enjoing the game so far.
I started the SEA course a couple of weeks ago and have now just finished it.
I am doing missions to make cash with both ships. I tried an sos but when I got there I couldn't help so that ended up costing me, any sugestions on what to take on an sos mission?
I also have an atmospheric harvester and station but not sure how to defend them I expect them to be hit by pirates anytime.

Welcome to the game, Atami.

really good starting questions...

...let me see...

I am happy that you have progressed this far. Congratulations.

You will find SOS missions out there, they only have 3 criteria -
1. they need fuel, you may sell them fuel from your cargo bays (if you have enough), siphoning hoses are standard on all SOL hulls.
2. they need medicine; they are a 'plague ship' (non-contagious), you may sell them meds (and again in exact amounts only)
3. POD people - these are the ones who's engines have gone all blooey and need a ride home.  (The Empire believes this happens when these dastardly people try to reverse engineer the SOL 'WHG technological licensing'). They are hungry, thirsty, and usually in serious need of a 'bath', but they are really grateful (:wink).

The Empire cannot guarantee a safe atmospheric harvesting location within SOL system; we only control Mercury. Ask any representative of SSS Corporation and any one of them should be able to help you.

...Otherwise, do what we all did, go out there and see what's where...

You will have corporations (including the 'Empire of Sargas') that will seek your membership. Research them in the forums and make an informed decision.

Oh, and did I forget to say, "Welcome to the game, Atami."

'Be of Welcome' and we'll see you out there...

...somewhere...

...out there...

(and editing for spelling)

Welcome to the game, Atami  hi

Honestly, mining/harvesting isn't too profitable, it's rather for fun. If You really want to do this, better first build Yourself even a single combat ship to fill Your wallet with solars. Then You can spend cash for mining/harvesting stuff :)

Like Sargas said, there is no guarantee of safety in any location in SOL, until You're an SSS member :)
If You would want to join the Syndicate, I'll be glad to assist You on Your way to 20.000 power. That's because we are only accepting players over 20k power to make sure they'll be active and wont leave the Syndicate and the game ;)

Indeed welcome to the game. If I might add a bit of advice I would recommend ignoring the SoS mission that ask for fuel, they don't bring in that much profit and selling your fuel to them means you have to go back to Sol that much sooner. The further away from Sol you get the more money you make so it's in your best interest to try and get out there and look around. Personally I find the best SoS missions to be the refugee ones or as Sargas likes to call them "pod people". you simply have to pick them up, put them in your cargo bay and take them back to Sol. The amount of space they need is random but the amount of money they will pay you depends on how far away they are. Ultimately I would just say make sure you have a few thousand fuel cells before you go out there too far and be sure to turn back before you run out of half your fuel so you can get back.

The SoS missions do involve some risk, you can run into several SoS missions and not find a single refugee to bring back. That being said once you find a couple you should be able to make enough money to not only pay for your fuel costs but also upgrade your ship and modules a little bit.

Early on the missions from Sol are your bread and butter, they aren't glamorous nor will they make you rich quick but they are guaranteed income. Of course if you join a corp they will likely help you out with fuel as well as a corp ship that they might be able to lend you which will help you start making money much faster.

Enjoy your stay here at AG, and of course feel free to ask questions as pretty much everyone here is friendly and willing to help you out.

A new citizen is always a welcome addition at the beginning of the year (especially as it is the Empire's birthday).

However, the Empire is saddened at the loss of citizen judgedreadx, who recently retired.

Glad Atami found a good place to learn and get a little help now and then.

I would say I'm sorry about lossing judgedread but... well I didn't know him and that name... lol Still it was a good movie, at least I think it was. I'm sure that Atami can help fill the void though.

Captain Atami is progressing nicely.
He has achieved 1.8 million power on his own, been promoted (twice), and has just received his first COM dedicated corporate warship.

Certainly quicker than I did that :)  Well done, Atami.
