I personally don't see a need for 'hording' diamonds. Sure, every ship I own now has 200 of them as 'emergency fuel' - but outside that why horde?
What I NEVER do is sell diamonds at Earth - that just takes currency out of the game. I costs a whopping $30 solars and 1minute of time to jump to Luna and sell diamonds at a bank there - same $$ to me as if I sold at Earth but it keeps diamonds/currency in the global economy.
Other than to f with people, why would anyone horde diamonds?

Is this a permanent thing that no diamonds are for sale at the NoBrain mining station at Luna? I used to buy from there (and there were plenty) for GCA transactions (and of course sold diamonds back there after sales). I'm not an SPQNR member so I do not have access to the 'Bank of SPQNR' which presumably has some diamonds for sale.
I need ~5000 diamonds - can anyone sell that many there and help a bro out? Thanks!

Sold! Let's do the transfer through the GCA - I'll put that much diamonds into the GCA today.
Actually, I just looked and there are no wholesale cost diamonds available at the Luna NoBrain station...and I'm going out for mother's day for most of the evening. Perhaps tomorrow there will be some diamonds there for sale and we can do the transaction then?

From other threads I know there is a 'Wormhole Shifter' which is implied to speed up interstellar jump calculation time. What exactly is a Wormhole Shifter and what are it's mechanics? Can a Wormhole Shifter be manufactured? Or is this a relic you have to find in the ARC (Alien Remnant Cluster)? - If you can make them, then what would it cost to buy one through the GCA?
- If you can only find them, do you find them at Mark 1 and have to reverse engineer them up to Mark 10? Is Mark 10 the max?
Or is Wormhole Shifter a new type of ship 'optimization' that you get somehow?

I'm currently running an experiment to see the minimum ship power needed to pick up COM missions. I am, unfortunately, running on a ship with only WHG 1 so each jump takes 10hrs or so. (now that I think of it I could have built a WHG 10 in 15 hrs and have the jumps take 30 mins...doh!) I am not really doing COM missions - each of my SOS ships has exactly 710 power (I get manpower 130 but I don't see how I get weapons 208 and 472 for Combat Speed) so I need to add something - AES?, MAU? - to spike up my power to the minimum needed to pick up COM missions.
While you do not need power at all to do SOS Distress mission - and I certainly do not have any - I do see the advantage of the 'vacuum cleaner' approach. It will eat up more fuel to do that - probably 2x the fuel consumption - and will at least double the time to clear a sector. Collectively that will probably drop my $/hr rate in half. When I am extremely focused and not playing chess or watching pr0n I can make about $10million/hr now. I am keen to see whether the respawn of SOS missions by elimination of COM missions yields a net $/hr increase.
