1  Corporation General Talk / Corporation Stance / Re: Closing shop on: September 02, 2023, 04:32:04 AM
It was a matter of policy, not lack of backbone. I would have happily joined in all-out war against people who deserved it, but not against new players or people who hadn't done anything. I wanted to encourage new players, and focusing on attacking bad actors would have given us the the opportunity to nurture them.

As it is, we have ended up with the worst of everything. You (by which I mean not you personally) only attack new, innocent players and do your best (again not you personally) to piss off established players.

When would you have ever tolerated someone sneaking in to steal your coms? Or waiting for someone to fight the looter attack on their com then sneaking in to fight the destroy attack immediately after? Yet you (again not you personally) do this routinely. In fact, it happened three times this morning.
2  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Combat Ship Setup on: March 27, 2023, 06:25:01 AM
For fighting Hijacker coms, I used a Battleship (hull IX) with Improved Shields. No weapons, but with an AES:MAU ratio of 2:3. For example, 10 AES-M for every 15 MAU-M. If you had higher level AES, you could double up (for example, 5 AES-MM is the same as 10 AES-M). This is not the case for MAU, though, as MAU suffer from fatigue, so a few smaller MAU may be better than one big one. This combination tends to work for anything unless you are very unlucky in encountering 5 or 6 pirate ships all with improved armour. In that case, MAU are sometimes not enough – or the battle would take longer than the 60 days.
Your maximum ship power for collecting and fighting hijacker missions is around 150 million. If you go any higher, you risk not being able to fight the ships within the maximum 60 days, which will give you nothing.
To collect all the POW, I'd look to have at least an ACB-MMMMMM on board (or 3x ACB-MM). A Safety Override (SO-LCCVII) is also useful.

They'll work anywhere as long as they have crew assigned. Safer to put them on ships. Even safer to put them on ships in a safe zone or at Earth.
4  Info Terminal / Knowledge base, Information board / Re: combat distress signals on: May 11, 2022, 12:43:03 PM
It's probably a different base. If the tracker doesn't tell you the planet and system, it means the star has gone nova and the mission no longer exists.
5  Info Terminal / Knowledge base, Information board / Re: quick way to get passengers off your ship on: April 03, 2022, 05:45:10 AM
If you want the money from Survivors, you have to click individually. I sometimes end up with lots of other unwanted passengers. The easiest way of getting rid of them is to put them all on a station around a dying star and wait for the nova (or an unfriendly player) to destroy the station.
6  Info Terminal / Knowledge base, Information board / Re: entering events on: April 03, 2022, 05:42:04 AM
Are you travelling to the event itself? When you navigate to one, you are in the equivalent of the "safe zone" of a star. You need to click on the event itself and take a few seconds to jump to it, as you would when jumping to a planet. You should then be able to enter the event.

Now I'm just getting "This site can't be reached".

I am getting the same.

Do let us know if the situation changes. The offer of $100m/100 QP seemed to me a little derisory for an unprovoked attack on the Empire. As he rejected my quite reasonable suggestion of mutual non-aggression, should EOS declare long-term war on PF/Caker in the future, I'd gladly contribute 5000 QP to EOS as my 'counter-offer'.
10  Corporation General Talk / Corporation Stance / Re: Standard for Discussion on: January 22, 2022, 02:57:46 PM
So, to summarise:
1. Caker asks for peace with SPQNR and LOEP.
2. I point out SPQNR is not attacking him and that I'm not really interested in attacking him if he leaves SPQNR players alone.
3. Rather than taking the partial victory, Caker announces he's going to continue attacking SPQNR and, for good measure, going to start attacking EOS as well.
Nice negotiating there, Gandhi.
11  Corporation General Talk / Corporation Stance / Re: Standard for Discussion on: January 22, 2022, 05:08:04 AM
I'm not even convinced you've read any of the posts. It's difficult to fathom how you can misinterpret so much in so few words:
1. SPQNR has not committed any hostilities against you. The hostility comes 100% from your side, so we have nothing to cease and nothing to negotiate.
2. I consider the relationship between SPQNR and LOEP to be very cordial, but SPQNR retains no influence over LOEP. They do their own thing and respect to them.
3. EOS hasn't 'sided' with SPQNR – Sargas merely gave his very reasonable take on the situation and outlined his own corporation's stance.
As I say, nothing to negotiate. Just stop attacking our members and chances are we'll continue to ignore you and get on with our own thing.
12  Corporation General Talk / Corporation Stance / Re: Standard for Discussion on: January 20, 2022, 01:57:51 AM
All right, this is my personal two-penneth worth.
• All corps currently involved in the conflict, particularly [LOEP] and [PF], renounce the right to piracy and the unprovoked attacking of ships.
I don't believe SPQNR is directly involved in a conflict. Occasionally, PF (aka Caker) attacks one of our players, but it's minor in the grand scheme of things. I also don't believe any current member of SPQNR indulges in piracy or unprovoked attacks. If for no other reason than the benefits are puny compared with other ways of achieving success.
• Operation Scorched Earth ceases, or at least ceases to apply to any member of any of the 10 largest corps.
Nothing to do with us.
• [PF] uses its military capabilities solely in pursuit of COM missions and any associated NPC missions, but reserves the right to use military force for self-defense purposes.
By all means. Fill your boots.
• Hostilities between [LOEP], [SPQNR], and [PF] shall cease indefinitely, assuming no further provocations are undertaken.
I don't believe we've indulged in any hostilities. You must be thinking of PF.
• The Mutual Mining Agreement is reinstated to full effect.
Nothing to do with us.

Mind you, my research capacity now is effectively much of SPQNR/LOEP's corp capacity squeezed into a single account...

Forgive my scepticism, but are you absolutely sure about that?

Happy anniversary!
Bronze is the traditional gift for an 8th anniversary. Have plenty of tin and copper if you're interested.
