There seem to be an error in the calculations of total power of COM missions.

See my last one: 7 laser MK LVII at 90000 each for a total power of 630000;
                         6 Osmium MK LXVI at 129375 each for a total power of 776250;
                         I do not take into account the CDR and personnel.
                         My calculations: 630000 + 776250 for a grand total of 1406250 power.
                         But the total power shown: 1025330, and the pay is based on that last number.

Is there something I do not understand? At least it explains why I have so many battle draw (victory without craking the pirate hull) now. I need much more fire power and to train my gunners so they do not miss so often. And the pay is not what it was neither lol

Regards,

Matamaure

I just checked 3 new attacks, 2 of those, your calculations give the same results as mine, the 3nd one with osmium armor give att 1103740/def 843750 total 1537205 but if add the att + def we get 1947490 instead????

129375 is for Crystalline armor plates

You got the Osmium armor calculation wrong, it's 3750 power * 17,25 (for lvl 66 module) = 64688 each

That would make the total power:
7x laser MK LVII at 90300 each for a total power of 632100;
6x Osmium MK LXVI at 64688 each for a total power of 388128;
Total: 1,020,228  rest is other modules.

With 6x Osmium MK LXVI, the total armor HP would be: 776250 Armor HP

In the battle report you did 669399 damage, that is consistent with the ~= 95% damage the battle report states you did to the pirate.

From latest update:

"- Armor rating counts as 2 Armor for 1 power point now, as armor is more harder to maintain with repairs and less effective because it doesn't regenerate after battle. Balances armor vs. shields."

Power formula: (W+S+A/2+M+50*Cs)

So you where very close to defeating this ship, but 2 armor points count as 1 power so for armored pirate ships maybe try to get a bit more firepower to break their tank, maybe keep a few spare weapons in cargo bay.

Thx SirEmi, my error. I forgot the 2 points for the armor. It also mean that ships with armor are twice as difficult to kill compare to shields. so even if I have odds of 19 to 3 in my favor, if the pirate has armor I may be in trouble. lol.

And yes I am building new weapons to improve my ships, but they are very long to build.

Should not the armor count also as double for calculating the odds of winning the battle since it is twice as hard to crack now? So the odds for shields and the odds for armor keep the same meaning!

odds of winning doesn't decide whether you win a battle or not
it's just a comparison of power between you and enemy. A full science ship (only SLB) can have 144k power but will be beaten by a combat ship with 50k power
The only problem if the hijacker have armor instead of shield, I already try to find a way to beat them easily, but can't find anything so far. It's very hard to beat them now

35 + 3 + 42 = 100
Want a proof?
Try manufacture FTL Drive mk 1

Before knowing this, i always thought mass won't change no matter what you do......

Hijacker's can have either armor or shields.  I have faced one with shields.  As for science ships.  With all the manpower they tend to have, defeating them with a 50k power combat ship is not so easy.  It is going to require multiple battles with that ship to do it.  It would be like trying to blow up a science station.  50k is not enough to defeat it in one battle.

Maybe keep a spare set of railguns in cargo hold, then you can just replace some vipers / lasers with railguns, should have a nice armor piercing bonus. Just passing suggestions 1

Or maybe when we have motherships, keep a ship with rails and one with lasers docked to match the enemy setups...

I have been thinking of stuff like this myself.  More so the mothership thought then the carrying extra weapons. lol. Just because of the cost to build the higher MKs are just so high. lol
