MINING 101
How to read a planetary report.

1. S/Epsilon Indi K4
2. Type: Moon   Terrain: Barren   Surface: 56x106 km2
3. Surface control Deploy to planet Scoop to ship Survey  Weapons

4. Survey results   Geological
5. Name   Size   Depth   Est. value (solars)
5a. Copper   1811 m3   8.63 km   $56,141
5b. Brass   1119 m3   35.29 km   $50,355

4.    Atmospheric
Name   Size   Height   Est. value (solars)

Going line-by-line:

1.  S/Epsilon Indi K4      satellite of Kappa Epsilon Indi
2.  Type/Terrain/Surface:   Moon/Barren (no atmosphere)/56x106 (this will let you know how many slots     are available).
3.  Surface Control (upload mining) Deploy (place a mine) Scoop (pick up a mine) Survey (shows you what is on/in the planet) Weapons (treats the weapons the same way as the Weapon button for your ship.
4.  Survey results Geological/Atmospheric
5. Name/Size/Depth? Est. Value (solars)
5a. Geo:
Copper/ 1811 m3/8.63km/$56,141
Brass/1119m3/35.29km/50,355
5b.  Atm:
 0 deposits

Now, what does this mean?
Line 2 – Surface (area) 56x106   only 1 slot (the next jump in size is 4 slots (115+ 106)
Line 5a – 2 deposits, copper and brass. Copper  has ~700 more cubic meters than Brass and (as a deposit) is worth more. Copper is closer to the surface (so it will mine at a better rate than an equal sized brass-mine. But Copper is worth less than Brass ($31/$45). If they were at an equal depth, Brass would be more valuable than copper, but since the brass is so much deeper than the copper it will mine slower making copper the material of choice.
