Hello! I am DysonSphere. I enjoy theoretical science, physics, etc. When asked if I think aliens are real, I always respond with, "We've got a whole universe out there. Someone's waiting on us, I'm sure."

yes, it is akin to a 'Ringworld' except the entire star is surrounded by a shell (instead of just a narrow ribbon).

Yes, the Dyson Sphere is designed to collect the energy output from the star, reducing the cost of the energy to almost 0.
The theory is that a whole civilization can thrive because of the free energy...
Yes, Rimworld is exceptional!
If you like this stuff, you should also look into Pandora's Star (Dyson Pair) and Rama sagas.
Although it's not exactly about Dyson Sphere, they use similar concepts.
I would like to add these concepts to AG at some point.
