Planetary Fortress

"A planetary fortress is used to protect a whole planet from attacks. It will add a fortification bonus to all planetary civilian and military personnel.
The planetary fortress has to be carried in the ship cargo bay and can only be deployed on a planet surface. Once deployed on the surface, marines can be garrisoned inside."

Planetary Fortress structures are now available from the "SOL Shipyard" in Earth orbit, where it says "Buy planetary fortress" in the shipyard menu.

The maximum size can SOL can sell is Mark X, and it gives 200% Fortification Bonus. This bonus applies to all military and civilian personnel on the planet surface, for the owner of the planetary force.
The fortress will only protect it's own people. Rival forces on the planet will not be affected in any way by the fortress presence.

An enhanced version of the "Planetary Fortress" structure can be acquired from the Pledge system. It will grant a 300% Fortification Bonus with a garrison of 75,000 marines. The price also reflects the value of this huge structure. It can be sold at SOL Commodity Exchange for $24,825,000 solars.

Fortifying a planet will enable top of the line ground defense and damage absorption. The new planetary fortress is especially powerful when combined with the "Power Armor Marines Assault Unit".
The natural fortification bonus of planets is increased by the fortress structure, then the power armor bonus is applied.
The bonus for a marine can be 9/15 HP from planetary attack type, +300% from Fortress Mk XV => 9+27/15+45 HP, then +75% from power armor => 63 / 105 HP / each marine.
This will make it very hard to damage ground forces protected by planetary fortress and should make for some interesting turtle tactics.


Mining

"Specialized Mining Facility" and "Specialized Atmospheric Harvester" mining modules are now available and can be researched in "Science->Mining / Harvesting".
These modules can hold more resource capacity and mine faster, but can only mine common resources.

"Universal Mining Facility" and "Universal Atmospheric Harvester" are the enhanced versions of this module that can be found in the Pledge system. These modules can mine any resource and have an increased mining speed and better capacity.


The future reference

For planetary combat, we are also exploring the options of gravity and terrain type affecting combat and other planetary areas. Also big battles could change the environment like from Terran to Lava, Toxic etc.
Also terraforming is a definite possibility and could open up different areas, affecting colonization, resources and combat.
