Hi Sir Emi and game develops
I have just tested, if a shielded planet also protect stations, they don't..
I think this is a bug, because a planet placed shield should reach out from the surface to include stations in orbit.
On the attack screen they was sorted high -> low power
ground forces 636.250 Power 1x MAU-1 10x EMS-D 1 ship 69,735 Power 1x MAU-1 1x EMS-D 1 station 6,000 Power 1x MAU-1
The attack:
Ship Station Ground forces
I think Station should have been last..

combat has always been orbit then ground
But I still think this is wrong, because it makes fortress total useless..

it does defend your mines
But the station where the mined mats is stored is not.. I still can't see the logic.. The logic way is: Ships in attack force first then ships in protected force / Station / planet forces with most power etc. Edit: Just add the logic way.

But how is a building on the surface supposed to fly up far enough to establish an orbit, and then defend whatever is in orbit? That's just not logical.

It is, after all, a 'planetary shield'. It has plenty of usefulness.

I'm going to build a heavy shielded ship and use it as a "planetary shield". The ship will protect the stations and other ships and planet forces.
This is AG and not Star Wars...
Other_Bartel: No, The shields would reach out from the surface to protect the stations / defended ships in orbit, and the attack has to take out the ground forces to penetrate the shields. So no flying modules. but thanks for making me smile in the morning.

Are you talking shield or fortress? What is the 'area of protection' (it's 'blast radius') of a shield? Could it really reach from it's base in (say) Greenland to Lower Earth Orbit? No, a shield can only protect that upon which it has been placed. Your heavily shielded ship will only protect itself, not other orbiting or ground based objects. The only way a ship can 'protect' ground forces is to not be sent to the 'safe zone'

Are you talking shield or fortress? I'm talking Shields. The only thing I have said about fortress is that it's useless, if shields placed on the planet surface, don't protect stations in orbit.. The only way a ship can 'protect' ground forces is to not be sent to the 'safe zone' Yes, so a heavy shielded ship (+ 20M shields), can be used as a "Planet shield."
