I have to say, much respect to you, Cylon. I've been working at this thing, literally every day, non-stop since May, and I've made tremendous progress ... and you continue to run well ahead of me, lol. Keep up the good work! - Jim

I'll tell you what I will do.
No weapons will be on my ship, only civilians.
Hehehehehehe .... I like that one. 'My civilians can easily defeat your military' ... Red Dawn, anyone?

Well met, celtictiger! (I'm a USA sports fan; NBA Celtics; NCAA football Clemson Tigers; so although it's likely unrelated: 3 cheers for your nick, also lol)
Mining was my passion for my first 2 to 3 months in the game. It's awesome, in its own way. I have more than 500 units still out in the field, and I dutifully tracked them all in an Excel for that time period. I still grab the high-end ores and gases on a fairly regular basis.
I've moved on to primarily combat missions, with invaluable initial help from sargas and EoS, and am still steadily building from there. Still having a blast. :-)
Welcome to the game! - Jim

Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / System view: request for highlights on 'Where's my stuff'
|
on: July 14, 2015, 06:25:23 PM
|
When I started a few months ago, I kept detailed spreadsheets of each first-ring system and planet's deposits. As I progress in the game, and the explored Universe gets bigger, I've discovered ... 'ain't nobody got time for that' lol. I *love* the feature on the Star Maps, that shows highlighted rings in green, where you have a presence in that system. This request is to implement a similar 'Where's my stuff?' visual *in the System view* ... to avoid having to keep drilling down to the details and finding the green #'s. Green rings around the pretty planet pictures probably wouldn't work ... the best way to do that in the System view might be to modify the right-side listing of planets / moons; simply change the color scheme so that anywhere you have a presence, it shows a bright green, and the rest are a dimmer color (like gray). Would save a TON of time navigating in-system. Doesn't sound too difficult, but one never knows ...

A retroactive calendar change ... Galactic Year (GY)1 begins with SOL corp discovering wormhole technology. So today becomes June 30, GY4 @ 18:37 UTC
Seconded. (Not just because he's my Emperor ... it's mostly because '1' seems like a pretty good place to start. lol)

Eh? I had no idea that there is a maximum value for ship power.... Looks to me like the max possible value for a 32-bit integer has been reached: 2,147,483,647. Same thing that YouTube ran up against, when Psy temporarily 'broke' its counter last year. Almost unforeseeable a few years ago, lol. But we're there ... or, at least, a couple of our demi-gods are ... The variable will simply have to be increased. YouTube chose to implement a 64-bit integer, which is good 'til about 9 quintillion. Should take Mata at least another year to top that.

Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Module Upgrade - possible bug
|
on: June 07, 2015, 02:01:00 AM
|
... I believe I found a minor bug this evening.
Scenario: Wanted Mark VII (3,000 person) Living Quarters. Started, of course, by buying Mark I's (1,200 person) from Earth orbit.
Loaded appropriate materials, went to 'Mark Upgrade' them. Selecting 'Mark VII' from the Mark Upgrade menu shows *3,375* person capacity, not the correct 3,000 person capacity. So I unwisely chose one Mark less, Mark VI, which shows 3,000 person capacity, and ordered the upgrade.
Sure enough ... it starts making the upgrade to Mark VI as requested ... which is only *2,700* person capacity. Small error, but I verified that it's repeatable, before posting ... please investigate, obviously low priority. Or, let me know if I'm seeing things ... Thanks!

.... that doesn't compute to me. What am I missing ... are there parentheses missing from the equation, or ... ?
Oh ... sucker has Improved Shields Mark X. That's gotta be it, right? [Edit: that's definitely it. 297,000 reduced by a factor of 1.65 = 180,000, which makes the math work. But STILL] ... why doesn't that improve power rating?? lol

Somewhat related topic, that's confusing me ...
A pirate ship I'm squaring off against has a total of 204,225 power. But he's got 297,000 in shields alone (almost no weapons or manpower).
Weapons Shield Armor Manpower 13890 297000 0 9890
Total power: 204,255 (W+S+A/2+M+50*Cs)
.... that doesn't compute to me. What am I missing ... are there parentheses missing from the equation, or ... ?
