Oops, looks like I'm going to have to retract that offer, ladies and gents. If anyone is looking, PM me and I'll keep you in mind for future discoveries of the "I'm too small for that" nature...

SirEmi in other forum threads said that aliens would attack any intruder in their territory. That sound like a civilization for me.

It is clear they are aliens but that doesn't make them a sentient species.  For all we know this is just some sort of space infestation and not actually a sentient race of beings defending their homes. Remember even primitive animals will defend themselves when they feel they are threatened.

Bees and wasps attack invaders, yet they are not a civilization.

Yep.  That said if we could confirm perhaps that maybe these are like the Buggers in the Ender Series (start with Ender's Game. Great book series" then we could say they are sentient.  But as it stands now there just isn't enough information to confirm if they are in fact a civilization or even sentient.

Rafe was the first to discover something!

#2 'Space Monster' or #3 'Alien Civilization'.

We need to determine which is correct before we can award the title.  I read 'monster' and 'civilization' to be exclusive of each other.

The One Above All was the first to discover one of these. We are deciding which of the two it will be.

Sauron, I have one of those too, Mk II. I'm tiny, and for me it's equal to like... 1.5 of my science labs. If there were a way to upgrade them, they might ultimately be worth it. They would scale like 1000% better than regular science labs. But as is, pretty disappointed in the alien research lab.

what prize, Rafe?

You already said yourself that it did not meet the 'Space Monster' criteria.

And so far I have not seen that the bloody spiders can constitute a civilization.  Sir Emi already said that the civilization would be active and aggressive.

I have just asked SirEmi for a ruling.

Where and when did he say this?

No, they're just remnants... the alien civilization will have it's own colonies, ships and will be very aggressive when found...
