I've recently acquired a very big graphics pack for Astro Galaxy.
The pack contains royalty free ship models, including the designs for alien and pirate faction ships.

There are also graphics for the space monsters and other special events 1

Soon you will be able to expand your exploration endeavors and find new ships hulls that you could restore or even abandoned ships that you could claim from the depths of space.
The faction ships will have a different look then the standard Sol hull, and different module slot configurations. Some abandoned ships may have partial / working modules on them.
New missions might take you on a treasure hunt, with rewards that will include new ships with unique optimizations to claim...

We might also see a project to enable boarding and capturing of ships, with modules like tractor beams and jump drive disruptor etc.

This is amazing and will definitely draw in and keep a large player base. I have to ask though... How soon is "soon"?

That's some great news, SirEmi!  1

I wanna echo what Rostin said, how soon is soon?

Also please implement these new updates carefully, especially the proposed ship capture. A war would be a small price to pay if they are too profitable.. *evil grin*

Lastly, a sort of galactic chatbox would greatly help keeping players around. 1

I agree with all of this. Especially the concern about ship capture. I am hoping that what he means is capturing alien ships or pirate ships or some such. PVP ship capture in a game that can take weeks or months for most players to build up a ship would be absolutely devastating, and would very likely drive most players away. Plus, eventually Raph would have ALL THE SHIPS and it would be a very empty galaxy  Opps

But I echo everyone else's sentiment... I am extremely excited about all of this.

I am excited about the new missions, ships...

I also have the same reservation as Irredrache about the PvP aspect of capturing other players ships.

Also a question: to be able to capture new and alien ships, do we need one or many new license? (the cost of my next one is close to the billion!)

To "claim" a ship may require a ship license, so you can register it... Boarding will mostly be reserved for PvE and missions, for exploration purposes.

Abandoned or damaged pirate or alien ships and other unregistered ships will be the valid targets, found via treasure hunting missions and scanning.

Valid registered ships with Sol license will not be valid capture targets.

whoa
if this truly implemented, then getting ship will become possible, although getting a titan with some working module only gives you 3 mil or more
but i really happy that we get more graphic for different ship type
btw, i think i already said this last year, we need a tracker to find pirate (player) 10

Will we need licensing for these ships we find?  I can see it now.

Crew: "Captain the new ship we found is good to go. We can fly it out of here at any time."

Captain: "Negative on that."

Crew: "Sir?"

Captain: "We don't have the money for licensing to fly it from Sol Corp"

Crew: "I thought we were on our corp. We are richer, far more powerful. Why do we still answer to them?"

Captain: "Because that is how %$&@ up this galaxy is."
